About Us

Afnaan has been working for the welfare of disadvantaged Black and Asian Ethnic Minority and Refugee members of the community living in the London Borough of Ealing’s deprived area since 2005.

Our targeted disadvantaged BMER children aged 9-18 will benefit from the supplementary school project. Through our regular drop in Advice & Information welfare surgery, we have found that our targeted disadvantaged 100% BMER children belong to families who are dependent on government benefits (income support, job seekers allowance, pension credit and low income etc). They have parents with either no or low level literacy skills. As a result, children from these families get little or no support or advice to prepare for GCSE and further education. There is a significant proportion of low-income families often living in overcrowded housing especially in the northern end of the Borough e.g. deprived London Borough of Ealing area.

Afnaan wants to actively tackle inequalities to accessing services by providing educational support outside of mainstream schooling which will reflect upon the Every Child Matters Enjoying & Achieving outcome.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped Afnaan over the years. Afnaan would not have been able to function and provide such services to the local community without financial assistance from the London Borough of Ealing and other donors, the dedicated and active support of voluntary organisations, various individuals - particularly our members and service users - staff and committee members.

The management committee of Afnaan wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the following persons and organisations for their continued support, guidance and advice. We are also extremely grateful to many others whom it has not been possible to mention here:
